The Resurfacing/Refinishing Process

Saving time and money are the primary reasons homeowners, as well as hotel and property managers, choose professional resurfacing. Here is what we do:

Step One:

The resurfacing specialist ensures the surrounding area is protected and that any odor from the process is properly exhausted outside your home. Then the old caulking is removed.

Step Two:
The bathtub being resurfaced is then Etched. Etching removes the old enamel gloss finish, which creates a porous surface for the new finish to fully adhere to. This step is often times not performed by others but crucial to create a top quality finish. Large chips are filled in. Wet sanding is then performed to remove any soap residue, oil and mineral deposits.

Step Three:
A primer is applied to the surface to maximize the bond of the glaze to the bathtub. By creating a superior bond gives Twin Cities Tub Doctor the confidently to offer a five-year adhesion warranty on porcelain bathtubs.

Step Four:
Acrylic Glaze in the color of your choice, is applied with a spray compressor to create a durable, long lasting surface. New caulking in applied. A resurfaced tub can be ready to use within 24 hours.

Advantages of Resurfacing:
  • More affordable than replacement
  • Typically only 6 hours to complete the job
  • No dirty/dusty demolition or construction mess
  • Custom colors available
  • Like-new look and feel
  • 5-year warranty
